well there prolly not gonna run a "true" stock class and its funny to think for even a min you would be more than an unwanted obstical on the track if you were to run a fwd 6 cyl with the super stocks and i am kinda offended that you would even think of it .seems like your the only one with a 6 cyl car that wants to race and they prolly wont have a class just for you ....its 2010 racing season stop living in 2003

i guess the track will never make it then, like i said before if you run ais classes then expect an ais crowd, it will never work, all your doing is lying to yourselfs if you even think it will work, and i never said i wouldnt run it and i know i would get run over and just piss everyone off like i did the first time i ran a 4 cylinder against the ais 4 cylinders and got in they way the first week and never went back but rules are rules and the car is not legal, just like my mustang gt or my 94 cougar but that is ok cause i will just save money by not going if this is the way it is gonna be, and dont worry you guys will be saving money when they find out this is not gonna work and close the track. the only race that might bring a few people in is the truck race, the rest will be a follow the leader race just like in 2003 and before when they stopped running the regular classes and just ran junkyard classes. we would even be having this dicussion if they would just release the classes and get it over with. im not trying to piss anyone off but i dont see it working out and who is running the track anyways? is it capraras or the vantassels? i havent seen charlie or billy comment on here like they did at the can am website every so often.

IT has been written and documented if Jiggs cant race his 6cly daytona the track will close!!!Come on guys we cant let this happen we must demand he gets his own class we can even line the back stretch with mirriors so it looks like there is a full field of cars for all his fans ...now that thats out of the way seriously they never stoped running the "evil" regular classes in 2003 just the late models i dont remember follow the leader racing there but what do i know i am sure you went to both the friday night and saturday races ....o wait a minute that was me. i dont believe i ever seen you at a regular show back then. at any rate most of the junkyard cars had already morphed into race cars and you had the same few guys winning in every class every week (as in follow the leader)either way these guys running the mills(whoever they may be) know way more than you about how to make money so i am sure they will make decent decisions ....so be patient ..........sell your mustang, daytona, cougar ...........and go with a sure bet if you want to assure you dont miss out on racing buy or build a race car(or truck)

AIS didn't close because of the classes or the fans. The classes provided some great racing, and the fans were as loyal as could be. The 4 cyl class had the tightest racing of all of the classes. On any given night there were 4 or 5 cars that could win the 4 cyl race. There was one car this year that was sure to get lapped (that would be me), but I was out there for fun. I ran an stock VW Rabbit owned by Tim Ingersoll and I knew there was no way I was going to stay on the lead lap. I drove that car as hard as I could, and even blew the engine one week before the end of the season. The other racers didn't mind me being on the track because I raced my line on the bottom and they knew I wouldn't slide up into them as they went around me.

The super stock class was also exciting to watch. The Late models were racing for 2nd place because it was rare for Tommy Cloce to finish any worse than 1st, but a rookie managed to win 3 races (?). There's been a lot said about the truck class at AIS, particularly one truck, but the racing was good. The ladies truck class also put on a good show. The Nascar race was especially cool in 2009 because Steve Park found victory lane. It was single file racing that day. Drivers couldn't seem to get the 2nd groove to work for passing on the outside, so the passes that were made were those good short track passes.

My point is this, running AIS classes and having AIS fans at the Mills won't close Thunder Alley. Poor management, high taxes (?), and possibly some dishonest employees helped close AIS. I can't wait for 2010. I may not race next year because of my schedule, but I plan on watching some racing from the Mills grandstands.

where did i ever say it would close if i couldnt race? and yes i did go to evans mills both nights quite a few times and there was a major difference in the crowd, another thing, how was it follw the leader but the same guys won all the time when the guys highest in points had to start in the back, did everyone else start a lap down? lets run 2 nights so we can prove who brings a crowd into the track, and as far as ais shutting down. paul couldnt pay the taxes why? because he wasnt making money due to poor crowd attendance! and another thing it wasnt follow the leader at ais because it was built to have 2 lanes unlike evans mills where you have to get a run off the corners and get under people or use the chrome horn. and another thing if your so worried about a car count then have a 6/8 STOCK class unlike yours and justins cars back in the day running street tires and stock engines with no boring or using rv camshafts with added weight to the 8 cylinders and you probably couldnt fit all the cars on the track, there were a couple night when i didnt think all the 6 cylinders were gonna be able to run. i could really care less what happens to tell you the truth cause i will build a street car and go blow off the bowties on the road so do what ever you guys want i am just telling you my opinion and the cheaper classes are what makes money.

Enough already with all the negative crap, if thats all you are on this board for then go back to the can am board and spout off there, all of us former AIS racers , crews and fans are comitted to make this shot at the mills work,if you dont know the facts about what led to the closing of AIS there are plenty of people who can set you straight on it.

i think the reason ais closed is because nobody knew the track was even there. the first time my wife and i went to the track in '07, we stopped at a gas station in lowville to ask for directions to the track and the guy behind the counter had never even heard of ais. so we sat in the parking lot and asked about 6 or 7 people about the track before we found somebody who knew where the track was. now i live in the heart of syracuse so a town like lowville seems like a ghost town for me and for that many people to not know about the track that is only a few miles away tells me that they should have done a lot more advertising. that guy behind the counter not knowing how to get to the track would be like me not being able to tell you how to get to the carrier dome!!!

Flagman, I think Steve would have a hard time convincing his wife that the track consession stand is open this time of year. But hey, it might be worth a try... :? .

actually you can laugh all you want too but rush walts and i both ran with v-8s the last race they had on the asphalt, there were about 30 cars, most were street stocks from can am, some had asphalt tires and others ran on the dirt tires, rush fininshed 4th that day and i fininshed on the lead lap after starting 25th and we were both on street tires, i think i was running on kumhos, so the idea that my 6 cylinder may actually finish in a decent spot is there especially if i could fit asphalt tires under it, now as far as would i run it in that class, i dought it from the point that the car is way too far gone now to take the chance if something wrong were to happen then the car would prolly break in 2, now if i could find another daytona just like mine i would go for it but the rules are against it. now heres another thing i could do if i wasnt building a street car to take to cicero, pull the cam, lifters, rockers and intake off the mustang and swap them out but the car is too solid to ruin doing that, now if jason ran for president, he could do another cash for clunkers and donate all the cars to local tracks to give to drivers after he picked out the good ones for himself.
