Super Stock restarts??

Postby Gitter on Sun Aug 16, 2009 8:06 am

Why were the line ups screwed up last night? i watched the #34 car pull in the pits and then was lined up in front of cars that didn't pit that car should have been at the back ofthe pack... I kept asking the official and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away!!! this the stuuf that pisses other drivers off they lost positions! come on AIS you guys got to get it together i can see more from the top of a trailer than the tower and officials on the ground I don't think so come on!! i sen cars that were at least a lap down restart in front of cars on the lead lap ?????????

I hate to state the obvious but AIS doesnt care about rules anymore. They make them up as they go along. I am a fan sitting in the stands and just about every division that they lined up was wrong. They had lap down cars/trucks in front of lead lap cars. Thats not a safe way to restart a race.

as for lap down cars, in the ss race during the long green flag run i went a lap down and 1 lap later we had yet another caution. when they lined us up, they put me next to ramos (i was the last car he lapped). when we started up they said over the 1 way "ok its a single file restart, #87 your a lap down you can choose to start there or go to the back" so i chose to go to the back and the next time around they told me where i need to be which was right behind the cars i was racing previous to the caution but ahead of the cars i was origionally ahead of and the cars involved in the wreck and cars that pitted lined up behind that. i dont know about other classes but i was given the option of going back in the exact spot i was running before or i could have stayed up front. i was givin an option. i finished 10th in the race but i wonder if i stayed up front if they would have scored me behind everyone that finished the race thus being a bad idea(because i wasent in last place, i was just the last one lapped) or if i stayed up there and only 5 lead lap cars passed me if they would have scored me 6th thus being a good idea. i think they should let the 1 lap down cars "catch up" to the back of the pack because if the leader is the only one to put you a lap down, that doesent mean you couldent in theory finish 2nd. so on restarts, put everyone in the position they were running. if you were 14th one lap down, you should start 13th with the driver causing the wreck at the tail end of the line (or if 5 cars are wrecked you would start 9th and so on).

During the truck race, the 69 truck was a lapped truck and was pointed out by many to the pit steward that he needs to go to the rear of the field but nothing was done about it, it least he stayed to the bottom on the restarts, here is the rule Section 3
5. RESTART – During a caution and/or red flag period, the restart lineup will be judged by the lineup at the last completed lap. Cars involved in an incident will start at the tail end of the field. On restarts, passing only to the right until pass the start finish line. If sufficient laps are completed, race may be called with points and money according to restart. Restarts will be at the line exiting turn four. If you cause three cautions you will be black flagged. With ten laps or less lapped cars will start at the rear of the field.

89 was on the lead lap, you were the last car one lap down even though he was behind you

so your telling me because i just happened to get passed by ramos 1 lap before a caution that means i have no chance of gaining a position`on the restart (#22 was not passed by ramos so if i passed him, he would have been scored ahead of me because he wasent passed). if thats the case, why dont i just take out the leader if im going a lap down because it will bring out a caution and let me catch up to the lead pack without going a lap down. that is stupid because the 89 was on the same lap as i was because he didnt put me 1 lap down. if thats the way its going to be if i see the leader go by me i will just pull into the pits and call it a night because if i have no chance of gaining spots in the next restart than i would rather not tear up my equipment racing with you demo dirby drivers for $30.00

The restart lineups have been jacked up like that all year. A lapped car should line up for a restart where he or she is being scored so that ALL drivers have an oportunity to make up some positions before the end of the race.

If the 2 leaders lap me, then spin each other out and have to go to the rear, they should still restart in front of me because they are still ahead of me. Making them restart in front of me would put all of us back on the same lap.

Have you ever watched them over paid whiners on tv race on sunday??its the same deal if they go a lap down they have to pass the leader or wait till he laps more cars to gain positions, its no different ...if you think we are all demo drivers then stay home! how bout instead of whining that your gonna take leader out when you get lapped make your car faster so you dont GET LAPED or pull in the pits and finish 23rd instead of 11th its your choice i guess

You're right about the lapped cars starting in front of the leaders in Nascar, but they didn't like that idea, and that's why they now use the double file restart, so that the lapped cars can race for position rather than racing to stay in front of the leaders. They still race for the lucky dog position, but now all that does is put them in position as the last car on the lead lap.

I think that's the least of the issues at AIS. I felt sorry for the safety crew last week. They never got a break. My hat is off to them for their hard work. Granted, the extra speedy dry made the track awful slick, and it took forever to clean up the oil, but they're not exactly working with the best equipment, either.

after it was explaned to me, i relize i was just the victom of circomstance. if i stayed out in front of the leaders and through a stroke of luck got by ramos before the last caution, i would have been on the lead lap and finished 10th. but since i made the decision to go to the back of the pack and let the leaders settle it for $500 without having me in the way the president of gotgoodcheese.com added $50 to my paycheck for diong this. he said he was inpressed with my sportsmenship by giving up my chance to get back on the lead lap to let the leaders run for the big win whith 9 laps to go. i am now embarrased about throwing a fit about finishing 11th. i was just mad that i thought i got a top 10 in only my second time out on the track in a SS and i thought i was cheated out of it because i didnt understand the scoring. as for the demo dirby comment, come on guys. 22 cars started the race and only 12 cars made it out alive in a 30 lap race. at that rate if we ran a 50 lap race, the pace car would have been the only car left on the track. we would all have to run across the finish line ricky bobby style.

that just goes to show we all should sit back and think before we post anything on this website. the track has had a really rough year already and everyone that gets on here to complain doesnt help. Anyone can get a screen name for this site. Even more people read this site. Weaver gets on here upset about the finish of his second race of the year? Thats a little uncalled for and with those few comments he lost my respect. lets be more positive or at least constuctive. This is a form of advertising not just for the track but for us as drivers.

I've been there numerous races and the best i finished was 7th and that was my first race ever! Jason Dinzler told me last night "you just got to keep trying thats racing".... i have had nothing but problems all year long and am ready to sell evrything cause i can't afford to keep having problems but it would only take one more race to make it all come around... so I wouldn't be complaining on your second race !!!
