Racers
If you are really serious...
Paul really cares about every one at AIS and wanted so bad to make it all happen. He spoke many times about there being no race track in Lewis County when he was a kid. He always drove out of the county for racing entertainment. It breaks his heart and his wallet like yours too. But you need to understand what taxes and government regulations have put him through financially. He has spoken out many times to town, county, state government officials and local lawyers, only to be treated like a voice in the wilderness. The only lawyer that ever went to bat and did all he could, and did a very good job of that, was a lawyer named John Yuhas from Marcellus, New York with Lou Gehrig's disease. This man could not even brush his own teeth or comb his own hair because of this disease, from a hospital bed he helped Paul accomplish more in this challenge for fair taxation than any other individual.
If you really want to help the track, telephone (315) 376-3356 and ask for Fred J. Schneider Town of New Bremen Supervisor and ask him why the tax assessment on the AIS race track went from $350,000 dollars in 2003 to $3,500,000 in 2004 with no real estate improvements done. The other two similar assessed full time businesses (which we are not) in the Town of New Bremen in 2003 have stayed the same to this day and have had no large assessment changes while both have done considerable real estate improvements. The land and school taxes in 2003 were $14,078.18 per year. The same property one year later in 2004 went up to $126,141.63. This is why Dr. Sam Yancey and Paul Lyndaker have spoken nearly every day on the phone since the spring of 2006, trying to get a solution to these over burdening taxes. We accomplished a reduction of nearly 1/2 in total taxes, but it is still not nearly enough. This is why we decided recently to draw a line in the sand and bring these taxes back down to "vacant land and vacant storage sheds." This can only be done by closing the racing facilities. This facility will stay this way until the Town of New Bremen assessment for part time seasonal recreation property becomes comparable to other Lewis County recreational property and other State wide stock car race tracks.
A note to Gitter....
Nothing meant negative or punitive coming from AIS Management. Hobbies cost a person money, the facility where you play your hobby should not be expected to pay for your hobby. For example AIS loses money to provide competitive fun for the racer and entertainment for their fans under the current situation every Saturday night due to high taxes and excessive government regulations for a part time entertainment business. Since day one Paul has paid over $500,000 in local land and school taxes. Every Saturday night it costs $8,000+ just to open the doors due to land, school taxes and required insurances for pits and grandstand fans. It can also cost up to $1,000 for sales tax every regular Saturday night with NASCAR weekend topping it off at an additional $10,000+ for sales tax and additional insurance. Every regular Saturday night costs a minimum of $20,000 with 2/3 of them costing $25,000 and finally to mention NASCAR weekend costing $125,000 (one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars) just to break even.If you would like to know more about additional weekly expenses Paul has the information. Racers we are tired and we are taking a break.
