Josh,

I'm clueless on automatic transmissions and TC's. Maybe someone with some knowledge can answer that question for you.

Brake bias adjuster and rev limiter....(Got a PM about aftermarket water pumps and power steering pumps, too.) Up to everyone here what they think we should include, I'm just looking at this with an editors eye on getting the original rules more black and white. Speaking of which, I think we're doing a fine job. Except for Tommy, something about his dead horse, dead dog, and now he's joining the circus...can't wait to see him in tights on the flying trapeze!!!

Josh,

To test the rule about TC's; 7.3……. Automatic transmissions must have a torque converter meeting OEM specifications for that transmission….. (and assuming we are talking about a Monte Carlo or Camaro with a Powerglide transmission.)

According to Wikipedia; Early model Monte Carlos, Camaros, and Vegas (until 1972) came from the factory with Powerglide transmissions. So therefore, using an "unaltered" Vega TC with a Powerglide transmission in a Monte or Camaro not only is OEM (Manufacturer) legal, but OEM Stock (Manufacturer, Make, and Model of Transmission) legal too!! See, black and white! :wink: Just copy this stuff, throw it in a notebook, drag it to the track, and tech will be a breeze if ever questioned. See even a someone who didn't know beans about automatic transmissions and TC's 20 minutes ago can figure this out!

seems like you want to turn these cars into pure stocks again...... you can only go so fast on a set of 890's only get so much air through a 4412 the tech guy aint gonna weigh flywheels or clutches on any given saturday so why have a rule get a good set of engine rules and tech them every race night leave everything else alone

If I read correctly, no where in these rules does it say that traction control is illegal... :o

Jason,

As I said earlier;

"Please….the purpose of this thread is to develop a more concise set of Super Stock rules in a timely fashion and hope they will be adopted by AIS so folks can start working on their cars. To expedite this matter, I thought it would be better to utilize (I think another term is plagiarize!) other track’s rules to try to eliminate the majority of the grey areas our current rules have. These grey areas are the source of a lot of problems – the latest grey area that needed interpretation ALLOWED the management to call it “the way they saw it” and has just about killed the Lite Truck class if not the whole track with its decision. The point – without a concise set of rules as a foundation, we force the tech inspector and management to make interpretations that invariably infuriates many of us. Surely, concise rules help the technical staff do their job and avoid much of controversy, too."

There is no one I know that worked harder to get cars to the track. I admire you for all the hard work you've done. Thank you. When I went on my editing rampage, I had you in mind. I found it really easy to cut and paste some other track's rules that already addressed those grey areas that were giving us heartburn. Without really trying, this also allowed our cars to compete at those other tracks if AIS goes bottoms up. Now all that work you did won't be in vain, we'll have a place to race. Of course we'll all need power washers now (and I'm just talking about the fans!!)

Cleveland - I believe these are what are called "exclusionary" rule. Unless something is specifically permitted or specifically not permitted, it must be OEM Stock. (That and I wouldn't know a traction control devise if I tripped over it!!)

TRACTION CONTROL IS LEGAL THEN , MOST ALL CARS COME WITH IT AS OEM, ALSO KNOWN AS VSC(VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL) , TRY TO GET IT FUNCTIONAL WITHOUT ECM IS THE PROBLEM , ALSO DIRT IS FOR PLANTING CORN IN AND RUNNING A 4 WHEELER IN SO RULES FROM DIRT TRACKS DONT MEAN SQUAT TO ME, AND IT WILL NOT DRAW OTHER CARS TO AIS , OFFERING THE DIRT GUYS TIRES DIDNT DRAW THEM EVEN WITH THEIR HOME TRACK RULES, ALSO I RACED TRUE STOCKS BACK IN THE EARLY 90s , NOT GOING BACK, WE HAVE OTHER OPTIONS SPENCER SPEEDWAY, POSSIBLY OSWEGO IF WE GET ON THEM NOW , EVANS MILLS IF WE DEVELOP SOME DIALOG WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND GET THE DIRT OFF ITS NOT OUT OF THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY, AND SHANGRI LA 2, A BIT OF A DRIVE BUT PAYOUT IS THERE AND I HEAR THEY REALLY GET PAID TO RACE.DONT GET ME WRONG , I ENJOYED RACING AT ADIRONDACK WITH MOST ALL OF YOU GUYS AND THINK I FOUND MY WAY AROUND THERE TOWARDS THE END BUT AIS IS NOT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE, MAYBE WE COULD GET A LITTLE TOURING SERIES TOGETHER AND DO 6 OR 8 DIFFERENT TRACKS NEXT YEAR IF NOTHING PANS OUT?

Where's that empty nitrous bottle when I need it!!! (LOL)

Seriously, have we beat this thing up enough? Why don't we think about this over the weekend. Unless there something we've obviously missed, I could hand it over to Paul and Rob the beginning of the week. Who knows what will become of this, if anything. I thank everyone for helping. Wish us luck.

Is that true? When is someone gonna make a formal announcement if this is true? that sucks no asphalt tracks close except oswego and they don't have a SS class anymore...
Anyone know where we can all go if this rumor is true?

If this is in fact the truth , our best bet probably is to contact some of the other asphalt tracks ....airborne in plattsburg, spencer, oswego , Shangri La 2, and wyoming and see if they will give the "northern super stocks" 1 or two dates each, I dont think our rules fit perfect anywhere so that will prohibit us from just going to one of theese places to run on a regular basis without changes, either way it wont be cheap, there was rumors about oswego taking the super stocks back but I havent heard anything about that lately, and you cant bank on anything from the mills
